Commiserations to the Y8 cricket team who put up a very spirited performance despite losing to
Royds Hall earlier last month. A very strong batting team from Royds Hall knocked 114 off 16 overs
without losing any wickets. Despite a difficult start we made an impressive 100 off 16 overs for the
loss of 5 wickets in reply. Congratulations to Liam A (23) and Robert M(15). Well done
to the whole team for their support for one another and the good spirit in which the game was played.
Later in the month a weakened Y8 team, with quite a number of Y6 and 7 boys in it played against a good side from Scissett, who in the end were far too strong for us. Despite good efforts and application we lost by a margin of 67 to 116 runs scored off 16 overs. Worthy of mention were Josh K (31 not out and some good bowling), Luke H and James C (who bowled well) and Sam B who kept stumps.
Commiserations also to the Y7 cricket team who lost to a very strong Holmfirth HS team the same week. Holmfirth managed 98 runs from 16 overs despite a great bowling display from James C (2 for 13 off 4 overs) and tight bowling from Bradley G. Our fielding improved as the game went on. However when it was our turn to bat we didn’t keep up to the required run rate and finished with 58 runs off 16 overs. Well done, nonetheless, to Eddie K (15) and Max W (12). A good team effort played in the right spirit.

Congratulations to all pupils who participated in the English Schools Athletics competition before half term. There were several superb performances and personal bests. The girls finished 2nd and the boys finished 3rd overall. Great news since is that we are going through to the Regional finals at Derby next week. Good luck everyone!

Congratulations to the Y6 girls cricket team who played some very good cricket at the Kirklees Kwik Cricket Tournament last month. We had some exciting games, beating Moorlands and Beech Junior Schools but just missing out against Rowley Lane and Holmfirth, eventually finishing 2nd in our section.

Our Year 7 Athletes put in some excellent performances with several individual victories to win the Huddersfield Schools Year 7 Championships held at Leeds Road earlier this week and will now represent Kirklees in the forthcoming West Yorkshire championships later this term.
