School Council

School Council elections are held every year at the beginning of the Autumn Term. Each form elects 2 representatives , one boy and one girl, to serve on the Council. Members of the Senior Leadership Team meet with members of the council at least once every half-term. The purpose of the council is to give the pupils of the school a real opportunity to influence the running of the school (we even have our own budget!) and to express their opinion about any aspect of school life whatsoever.

Issues we are discussing at the moment include progress towards obtaining the Investors in Pupils Award, anti-bullying, views on lessons, the rewards system and school meals (always a favourite!).  We shall be interviewing members of the school soon and asking them our questions about Kirkburton Middle.

School Council members feed back the results of discussions during Form Time or assemblies.
