PARENTAL PARTNERSHIP
The school has always enjoyed an excellent relationship with its parents, and it is through close links between home and school that greater understanding and co-operation may continue to grow and develop. Open days, providing opportunities to see the school at work, are held during the Autumn Term. Parents are kept up to date with all developments through meetings, bulletins, and regular newsletters on the first Friday of each month. A summary of the curriculum to be covered is sent out at the start of each term. In Years 7 and 8 attainment grades, target grades for the end of the year and effort grades are sent out in October, and interim grades are sent out in February. Parent and pupil interviews are held at these times to discuss each child’s progress. A pastoral parents evening is held for Year 6 in October and interim attainment levels for Maths, English and Science, with effort grades for all subjects are sent out in February. A full written report is issued in June for all year groups.
It is particularly helpful if you can support your child by:
- Making sure that the school is made aware of any medical or social problems your child is experiencing
- Notifying school of any absence either by informing your child’s class teacher if the absence is known in advance or telephoning on the morning of the absence or, upon return to school, sending a signed absence note to school
- Ensuring that your son or daughter arrives at school on time
- Making sure that your son or daughter wears appropriate school dress and that everything is clearly named
- Making sure that your son or daughter has the correct equipment for the day
- Ensuring that homework is done regularly
- Checking and signing the weekly planner and homework diary
- Taking a close and continued interest in school and all it offers
