Headteachers Letter

Dear Parents,

I am pleased to introduce Kirkburton Middle School to you. At Kirkburton we believe that a school should be a caring and considerate community. We encourage our pupils to care for and think of others.

We believe that development takes place in a calm and orderly atmosphere where pupils are encouraged to behave in an appropriate manner.Self discipline is important and valued. Bullying and vandalism are rare.

We believe in high standards of work, dress, manners and behaviour. These standards are of vital importance to your child’s future.

The three years between the ages of ten and thirteen are characterised by rapid physical, social and emotional change and are of great significance in their academic and social development. We believe that a middle school such as ours provides an environment in which pupils can make the sometimes difficult transition from child to young adult as smoothly as possible.

We welcome a partnership between school and parents. To this end we operate an ‘open door’ policy where parents are positively encouraged to come and discuss their children’s progress and problems at any time, in addition to more formal consultations and Open Days.

We look forward to working with you and hope that this prospectus will provide you with most of the information that you will need.

If you require more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you would like to visit the school to see us at work, we would be very happy to arrange this at a mutually convenient time.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Parker
Headteacher
