SCIENCE
The Science course provides a broad curriculum, balanced between Chemistry, Physics and the Life Sciences. It has been designed to develop pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the subject while reinforcing basic scientific skills such as classifying, inferring and investigating. The work contains a range of practical activities where pupils can use their natural curiosity to develop scientific thinking and experimental skills, while promoting confidence in the use of a range of equipment, including computers.
The Year 6 course has been constructed to reinforce and build upon pupils’ First School experiences as well as to prepare them for Key Stage 3.
The scheme of work for Key Stage 3 is fully integrated with Shelley High School. This course is based on up-to-date pupil textbooks, broken down into a series of modules and supplemented by a range of worksheets and homework tasks devised to meet different abilities. Regular feedback is provided for pupils on their progress through end of module tests.
