Memories of Kirkburton Exhibition @The Hub-
In August 2011, a history drop in session was set up by The Denby Dale Centre at The Hub, Riley Lane, Kirkburton. The group decided that they would like to organise an exhibition of the memories of local people about the villages of Kirkburton and Highburton. Their FREE exhibition will run from Saturday 2nd to Tuesday 5th June 10am to 4pm. On Monday 4th June there will also be a “Street party” with a BBQ, childrens entertainment, tea and cakes. (Exhibition funded by the East Peak Industrial Heritage Support Programme, which is jointly funded by English Heritage and the East Peak Leader Programme (with funding from Defra and the EU)

Wedding Dress Exhibition @All Hallows-
At All Hallows Church, Kirkburton there will be a History of Wedding Dresses Exhibition featuring a number of dresses contributed by local people who have been married in the area over the years. The highlight of this exhibition will be a replica of the Queen’s Coronation Gown and Wedding Dress made by students at Huddersfield, Bournemouth and Glamorgan Universities. Open daily from Friday 1st June to Tuesday 5th June 10am to 4pm (entry one pound, refreshments and wedding cake will also be available)

Kirkburton Diamond Jubilee Village Fayre -
4th Annual Beer Festival - Friday 1st June to Sunday 3rd June at the scout HQ on Hallas Road, Kirkburton. On the Friday they will be holding a pub night 4pm-11pm with beer tasting, “pub” quiz, Pie and Pea Supper and Raffle – where the prize is a trip up the Emley Moor Mast!;
Kirkburton Village Fayre11am to 11pm Fun for all the family on Gregory Field.  Games, stalls and activites including roll a coin, teddy tombola, bouncy castle, coconut shy, children’s second hand books, soft toys, “Design a crown” competition, local art exhibition, hospice tombola, handmade jewellery and more. Plus The Ministry of Chocolate (Workshops and a Chocolate Fountain from the UKs leading provider of interactive chocolate workshops and teambuilding events) Shelley Music Centre Big Band will once again perform a wide range of big band music. A BBQ with Tasty Beef and Pork Burgers and Sausages from Kirkburton Village butcher from 2pm.

Sunday 3rd June – Sunday Special Kirkburton Football Club - pop in for a pre sunday lunch pint and help to drink the barrels dry (beer tasting – bar – 12 noon to 3pm)

Burton Big Eat @Burton Village Hall - Sunday 3rd June Kirkburton and Highburton Community Association will be holding Burton Big Eat as part of the “Big Lunch” jubilee celebrations at Burton Village hall. There will be 2 sittings, first will be at 1pm and second at 5pm (Villagers NEED to reserve their places by phoning Peter and Vanda on 605160). The Queen’s requested that everyone in the country should invite their neighbours to join them for a meal, so the opening of the village hall will allow the community to eat together. BRING ALONG a PICNIC, there is no charge for the event although tea and coffee will be available at a small charge.

Afternoon tea and the Hiltons – On Sunday 3rd between 2pm and 4pm, local couple Dave and Angie Hilton will be opening up their garden so that people can enjoy afternoon tea on the lawn at their home, Oaklands, 8a Turnshaw Rd. Food and drink available to purchase.

Valleys Community Transport - part of the Denby Dale Centre, will be providing transport throught the weekend to bring people from the whole of Denby Dale and Kirkburton ward to the Jubilee Celebrations – so you CAN have a drink! (Adults only – sorry) Please call 860077 for  timetable.
